Speaking on behalf of those who have no voice is at the very heart of the Gospel and what it means to follow Jesus.

At Immanuel we commit ourselves not only to feeding and housing people, but to addressing the things that need to change in order for everyone to have housing and healthcare and food and safety. And in addressing those issues, we have also learned about other justice issues that need our advocacy such as immigration, race, sexual orientation, Palestine/Israel, and the environment.

Faith Action Network
Immanuel is an “Advocating Congregation” with Faith Action Network joining an ecumenical statewide network of congregations working for justice. We pledge ourselves to address the root causes of those who suffer. We will use our voices in places where important political and economic decisions are being made to advocate on behalf of those who are marginalized, impoverished, or oppressed. The ministry of advocacy is not limited to one set of policy positions, and certainly not to one political party.

Reconciling in Christ
Immanuel is also a “Reconciling in Christ” congregation— following the example of Jesus who welcomed the outcasts, and God who loves the whole world—no exceptions.

RIC  means we are publicly welcoming and supportive of people who are lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender.  We work in partnership with Open Door Ministries and Lutherans Concerned-North America.

Ten year plan to end homelessness
We are a signing congregation of the Ten Year Plan to End Homelessness in King County, working through the Interfaith Task Force on Homelessness.
