Immanuel Lutheran Church is located in the South Lake Union neighborhood of Seattle. In addition to congregational worship and activities, we also host Immanuel Community Services, currently operating four programs: a food bank, a community lunch, a hygiene program, and a recovery shelter. We are looking for a Part Time Custodian to care for our building and share in our congregation’s vision and mission.
Job Purpose: To provide a clean, sanitary, safe and aesthetically pleasing environment for our worship and programs.
Representative responsibilities include: cleaning, mopping, vacuuming, restrooms, trash and recycling, minor repairs, resetting rooms.
Qualifications: Must be able to work independently without direct supervision during regular working hours; speak English; follow written supervisor’s instructions; safely use cleaning materials and machines; be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Must be fully vaccinated for Covid-19 as defined by the Washington Department of Health, unless a reasonable accommodation is approved. Having a current driver’s license, to run occasional errands, is preferred. References required.
This is a part time position (17 hours per week) with variable shifts; generally Sunday morning, and 2-3 weekdays to be negotiated. Compensation starts at $18.44 per hour, paid twice monthly. Retirement benefit of 15% to start 90 days after employment. Employer covers employee’s portion of Washington State FMLA.
